Immigration hardliners can count one roundly condemned group among their adherents: neo-Nazis.

It may come as news to some, but the United States still boasts a National Socialist Movement. Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Detroit, the Southern Poverty Law Center classifies the National Socialist Movement as a hate group. According the the SPLC’s website, the National socialist movement says “only hetereosexual ‘pure-blood whites’ should be allowed U.S. citizenship and that all nonwhites should be deported, regardless of legal status.”

In recent years neo-Nazis and other white supremacists have increasingly come to view U.S. Latinos and Latin American immigrants as a threat to their notions of 'racial purity'. The murder-suicide of anti-immigration extremist and member of the National Socialist Movement J.T. Ready that left four others dead last year highlighted the trend.

The folks at Cuéntame took note of the disturbing phenomenon and went to go speak with some neo-Nazis to hear them explain their ideas about immigration and race as part of a series called “If You Don’t Speak Up, They Will Speak For You!”

It’s not heartwarming stuff.

The video opens with Harry Hughes of the National Socialist Movement in Arizona referring to Mexicans as “vicious, cold-blooded people.” Hughes said he was “racially profiled” by a Maricopa county sheriff’s deputy, who was Hispanic and didn’t like Hughes because “we were wearing black uniforms with swastikas on them.”

Fortunately, few people take neo-Nazis very seriously these days. A November neo-Nazi protest in Charlotte, North Carolina found itself outnumbered and its speeches drowned out by a counter-protest of clowns.
