A national organization of young adult immigrants strive for a clear and efficient path to citizenship for all immigrants in the US regardless of age. According to Julia Preston, the group (entitled “United We Dream Network”) is pressing for a “direct and straightforward” seven-year pathway to citizenship for all 11 million illegal immigrants in the country, and would not support measures that only offered citizenship to young people brought to the United States as children.” Preston explores how the self identified group of “Dreamers” issued 20 different principles which includes illegal immigrants being eligible for a provisional status immediately following the implementation of overhaul legislation.
