It is bad enough to be putting more money into the pockets of these “prisons for profit” corporations, but to do it on the backs for immigrants who are being separated from their families every day they are incarcerated. Please use other means to monitor the detainees, like ankle bracelets or regular check-in at immigration offices. These work and only cost a small fraction of the prisons.

“Immigrants For Sale” is a most excellent documentary on conditions and motivating factors behind the fact that immigrants are literally for sale through the private prison complex. The three major players—Corrections Corporation of America (CCA), The Geo Group, and the Management and Training Corporation (MTC) pull in close to $5 billion a year from a system in which each prisoner is worth money, and detaining them as long as possible with the worst possible medical treatment, food, and other necessities means increased profits. It’s a system structurally ripe for the abuse which is occurring. It’s our responsibility to take action to prevent and redress these abuses. Please support this ethical and urgent issue. I trust you will. And please join us in calling for an investigation into the death of Victor Medina, who perished as a result of medical negligence. Help us to end to the privatization and profiteering of detaining immigrants. With much love and gratitude, Namaste, Pam

Sad to see how they are profiting, and treating humans like cash cows. It’s very sickening.

At this point, I cannot even develop the words to illustrate my disgust with the system. I am quite familiar with the immigration industrial complex and all the ugliness behind it. However, this documentary has affected me in ways that I cannot explain. Only by our humanity can we ever hope to put an end to this destruction.
