Richard Weiner signed Debbie: Say No To CCA! 2012-04-07 11:34:08 -0700Private prisons are an abomination. Detention is a public function and should not be outsourced to private companies for profit. Worse, these companies then use those profits to lobby for laws that do not solve societal problems and that make no sense. Their successful ability to do so not only harms our society, but it further erodes our deomcracy. Enough is enough. When a company like CCA can so influence the purportedly progressive chair of the Democratic Party, we know we’re in big trouble.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.
