Reg Smith signed The Dirty Business Of Turning This Latino Farmworker Town Into A Toxic Wasteland 2013-10-10 06:48:32 -0700There should be a law that requires companies that create these toxins to have the responsibility to clean up after themselves. The folks creating the toxic waste ought to be required to live where it’s dumped; that would guarantee their toxic mess would be cleaned up. Afterall, it’s not THEIR children paying such a horrible price in support of their profits!
The Dirty Business Of Turning This Latino Farmworker Town Into A Toxic Wasteland
**Update via The Center on Race, Poverty & the Environment
Last Friday we submitted over 4,900 signatures and comments to the Department of Toxic Substances Control letting them know we aren't ok with Kettleman City being our state's dumping ground! Thank you to everyone who signed and the folks at Cuéntame for speaking up for what is right. We will keep you posted on the future of the dump's permit to expand by a whopping 50% (it is already the largest hazardous waste dump this side of the Mississippi River!)
Kettleman City is a rural, majority Latino and farmworker community halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is home to the largest hazardous waste dump this side of the Mississippi and to shockingly high rates of childhood cancer, birth defects and miscarriages - two facts residents believe to be connected. WATCH THE FOLLOWING VIDEO EXPOSÉ.

Reg Smith signed If You Don't Speak Up, They Will Speak For You... 2013-02-25 09:44:53 -0800I’m not American, but I despise hate and prejudice whenever and wherever its ugly head is showing. As someone said, ALL Americans are immigrants, including all those of European origin. Even the Apache, Navaho & Mohawks etc. are ‘immigrants’…if you go back far enough in time to when they were the first humans to arrive on the north and south american continents. Dont back haters!

Reg Smith signed Debbie: Say No To CCA! 2012-04-09 06:36:57 -0700A corporation that imprisons people to make profits is vile. That kind of arrangement only ensures that people will be detained that ought not to be. How is this allowed!!? This is very wrong and is yet another example of how contrary the USA has become to its own constitution and its love of Liberty.
Debbie: Say No To CCA!
Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!
Add signatureIMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE
We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.
The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.
It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!
