Over the last 5 years, nearly 60,000 people have lost their lives in Mexico’s drug-related wave of violence. More than 70% of the weapons seized in Mexico in the last three years and submitted for tracing came from the U.S. (Source: ATF) Watch Cuéntame/WOLA's video: U.S. Guns, The Awful, Shocking Truth:

Enforce the existing ban on the importation of military-style assault weapons (because many of them are later illegally smuggled into Mexico);
Require gun dealers to report to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) the sale of multiple assault rifles to the same person over a period of five days;
Strengthen legal enforcement in regions of the U.S. that supply the bulk of the contraband weapons smuggled into Mexico.
People on the progressive net heard of undocumented activists being arrested outside the DNC in hopes of swaying Obama to reconsider his record breaking deportation strategy and stand on the right side of history. What people might have missed is the action in Los Angeles that protested Sheriff Lee Baca's deportations. Los Angeles is often thought of an oasis friendly to immigrants, but activists hold that Baca's deportations numbers are higher than Arpaio's deportation numbers. Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!12,229 signatures
IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE
We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.
The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.
It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.
THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!
