Undocubus in NYT: Many of those planning to ride the bus are undocumented and — for the first time — are not afraid to say so.
The "'Undocubus" is making a national buzz and was featured in an editorial for the New York Times. The move by the 'freedome riders' is unprecedented as many of them would not be considered 'DREAMers' (although as in most pro-immigrant activism, DREAMers do have involvement). Many of the riders are mid-aged, working class - heroes.

Is the New FARM Bill a Threat to Latino Health and Food Security?
Is the new FARM Bill a threat to Latino Health and Food Security? Latinos, and people of color, suffer from obesity, daibetes, and heart diesase at rates far outnumbering those of white counterparts. Will cutting funding and access help things? Obviously not. Colorlines writer Akiba Solomon offers very great insight that suggests the FARM Bill really is some scary stuff. Read for yourself.

Emails From Russel Pearce, Writer of SB 1070, Lay Out Racist Views
You know how proponents of SB 1070, and similar laws, always claim something along the lines of "It's not about race! It's about the law!" Well, yea; no, it's about race. Case in point, Russel Pearce, who introduced the legislation with the help of Kris Kobach and the Federation for American Immigration Reform. His emails demonstrate an undeniable bigotry. Walmart's Slogan: " Save Money. Live Better" Latino shoppers represent a strong percentage of Walmart's patrons - but Walmart has decided to cut health care benefits to a sector of their employees which disproportionally affects Latino workers.

A great victory against the incarceration of immigrants for-profit! The private model for incarceration has shown time and time again to be a model that promotes corporate and human rights abuses! Be sure to watch our series 'Immigrants for Sale.' Expose the racket!

Sheriff's Department Accused of Reporting Domestic Violence Victims to ICE
This is evident of the need to have the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) protect all women, including undocumented women. Obama needs to veto the reauthorized VAWA that does not protect women in Native American, LGBT, and immigrant women!
On a individual level, its important that victims of crime know their rights. Check out our [video] on the U-Visa, a visa granted to certain victims of crime, including victims of domestic abuse.

Arizona To Ban Pres. Obama's Name From Ballot?

Here we go again. Arizona Secretary of State considers leaving Pres. Obama's name off of the voting ballot as he still questions the president's legitimacy. Isn't this a perfect definition for UNPATRIOTIC and ANTI-DEMOCRATIC? The Arizona experiment in lunacy government continues to wield some strange outcomes. One must wonder if this is the voice of the party at large?

Salvadoran Gangs in Truce Seek Civil Support
El Salvador is key corridor for drug trafficking, an unfortunate geographical location between Mexico and the rest of South America. The traffic has been accompanied by heightened drug violence. Recently the two dominant gangs, Marasalvatrucha and 18th Street have come to a truce, but that truce is fragile and gang members are seeking civil society's support.

Side With Justice Over Racism!
The United States Supreme Court is hearing arguments in Arizona v. United States, the Obama administration’s challenge to Arizona’s anti-immigration law, SB1070. What they won't be hearing is what and who has fueled this discriminatory legislation.
Will justice triumph over racial profiling and discrimination fueled by supremacist and nativist fringe groups? We need to stand together in this most pressing time.
We need to show that together we reject this hate agenda.Sign the pledge stating that YOU side with justice over racism!

Debbie: Say No To CCA!
Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!
IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE
We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.
The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.
It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

The One Issue Young Voters Are Not Budging On
The trillion dollar mark in student debt is a foregone conclusion. On average a graduate ends with at least 25,000 in debt.
Latino students have been hit disproportionally by the rise in education costs as well as predatory practices by for-profit lenders. Now interest rates are set to double in July.
The madness needs to stop.

Bribes: How Wal-Mart Conquered the Mexican Market
Wal-Mart is the largest private employer in Mexico. How did they do it? A new The New York Times investigation show it was ol' fashioned corporate bribes that did the trick. Well, in fact, Wal-Mart had an initial internal investigation of the actions but shut it down and The New York Times decided to investigate for themselves.
