Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

I am shocked that Congresswoman Debbi Wassermann Schultz supports this Immigrant Prison.

    I am extremely disappointed.

This is awful. This prison, guts the spirit of the United States.

Dear Debbi Wassermann Schultz, if it is not true that you support this Immigrant prison, then let us know. [email protected]

Why should private prison companies be profiting from people lives when there are much bigger problems in the U.S.?

I usually support your positions, but this is not one of them. I do not believe prisons should be a business; they should be state controlled institutions for rehabilitating offenders, inasmuch as it is possible to do so. Please research the issue and reconsider.

Privatized prisons of any type create such a fundamental conflict of interest that they should not be permitted. At the very least you should oppose the CCA’s plan to bilk the government for even more money.

Government paying a private company to handle a government function is not “leveraging market forces,” it’s a simple shovel pass of cash to big business.

The Private Prison Industry is extremely dangerous. Prisons should not be a “for profit” business adventure. They have been proven to lead to violations of citizen’s civil rights. I thought you were a democrat?

though I don’t live in your state I have spent a considerable time locked up and I can tell you that the privatization of prisons is a terrible idea. There are already so many bad stories out there about private prisons now. Please reconsider your decision.
