The Dirty Business Of Turning This Latino Farmworker Town Into A Toxic Wasteland
**Update via The Center on Race, Poverty & the Environment
Last Friday we submitted over 4,900 signatures and comments to the Department of Toxic Substances Control letting them know we aren't ok with Kettleman City being our state's dumping ground! Thank you to everyone who signed and the folks at Cuéntame for speaking up for what is right. We will keep you posted on the future of the dump's permit to expand by a whopping 50% (it is already the largest hazardous waste dump this side of the Mississippi River!)
Kettleman City is a rural, majority Latino and farmworker community halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. It is home to the largest hazardous waste dump this side of the Mississippi and to shockingly high rates of childhood cancer, birth defects and miscarriages - two facts residents believe to be connected. WATCH THE FOLLOWING VIDEO EXPOSÉ.

john eschen signed Side With Justice Over Racism! 2012-04-26 12:30:14 -0700Immigration, was an issue, when I lived in Arizona during the 60-70’s. I remember the argument then, today, there is a lot more racism involved.
If the governer, wants to stop the human flow, maybe she should make it easier, for people to get green cards, and working visa’s. If she, wants to stop the illegal flow, maybe she should place the national guard, to where they cover the border.
There are better ways, but racism only clouds the issues. As one can see, from the presidents last vistit to Arizona. That it’s not going any where, any time soon.Side With Justice Over Racism!
The United States Supreme Court is hearing arguments in Arizona v. United States, the Obama administration’s challenge to Arizona’s anti-immigration law, SB1070. What they won't be hearing is what and who has fueled this discriminatory legislation.
Will justice triumph over racial profiling and discrimination fueled by supremacist and nativist fringe groups? We need to stand together in this most pressing time.
We need to show that together we reject this hate agenda.Sign the pledge stating that YOU side with justice over racism!

john eschen signed Debbie: Say No To CCA! 2012-04-07 20:41:56 -0700What we need, is to reign in the correction department. Not give them more power. If you want do some thing, stop, the sexual abuse behind bars.
When corrections officers, start sexually abusing people, it’s time for the system to change. This situtaion, is bad for America. And it’s about time, the stain of blood is cleansed.Debbie: Say No To CCA!
Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!
Add signatureIMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE
We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.
The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.
It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!
