National Science Foundation May Have First Latina Director

The National Science Foundation may soon have a Latina at it's head!

On Thursday, President Obama announced that he will nominate Dr. France Anne Cordova as head of the National Science Foundation.

Dr. Cordova has served as President Emerita of Purdue University and has also served as a physics professor at the University of California Riverside and at the University of California Santa Barbara. She also worked for NASA as their chief scientist from 1993-1996.

The National Science Foundation works to keep the United States on the forefront of the latest scientific research and as director of the foundation, Dr. Cordova will work to expand new fields of science.
