I will not spend even one dime at WalMart unless and until all employees are respected and paid decently! Unionizing the workforce would be a great first step.

For many years I have engaged in an economic “action” against Walmart. . .specifically,

    1) I have made complaints with the appropriate state and federal agencies that Walmart was selling pre-packaged food products were a) under weight; b) had water content which exceeded % printed on the package(s). . .And, in EVERY instance, I was corrrect! [I made certain to be present when the state or federal inspector showed up to test the products

    2) I have purchased food products such as turkeys or chickens when they were on special [For example, I once purchased TEN turkeys at the advertised special price of 39 cents per lb. Several days later (when the birds were being sold at the “regular” price of 89 cents, I returned NINE birds, still packaged but now thawed PLUS the partially-eaten carcass of the tenth bird which I had had for Thanksgiving dinner. I complained that I was “not satisfied” with the flavor of the bird. I told the store manager that I could not find the receipts (The package “brand” indicated the birds had been purchased at Walmart and I had removed the sticker tags). . .According to Walmart’s posted guarantee policy, I could return the birds for a FULL refund at the CURRENT price of the product IF I did not have the receipts. Thus, I received a refund in the amount of 89 cents/lb for TEN 24 lb birds. . .An economic “hit” to Walmart of $120 because they could NOT “re-sell” the USED birds!

    3) I was going on a camping trip with my son and went to Walmart. I purchased several sleeping bags; a lantern; two coolers; a camp stove; and other camping gear. . .A total outlay of around $500-$600. . .After we returned from our camping trip, I returned EVERYTHING for a full cash refund! Again, Walmart could NOT re-stock the items and sell them as “NEW”. . .I believe they sold some of the items at greatly reduced prices; and, the other stuff was probably “junked” as not “fit for re-sale”. . .

In other words, the ONLY language Walmart seems to understand is MONEY! And, this system which I have used for over 15 years has definitely hit them in the wallet!

Imagine what the impact would be if only a hundred people did this. . .Or, by extension, thousands of people??!!! I bet we would get their attention FAST!!!

Of course, they might change their “return policy”. . .However, I betcha that they’d lose a lot of customers if they did THAT!!!! Especially since Walmart NOTORIOUSLY sells “low end” merchandise that rarely lasts very long!

“Free enterprise” doesn’t mean the freedom to treat employees like slaves.
