Undocumented Student Denied Student Government Position
Jose Luis Zelaya is who the student body of Texas A&M elected as Vice President of Diversity, but it's not who was confirmed for said position. Zelaya was not confirmed by the Texas A&M Student Senate because he is undocumented. Does the Texas A&M Senate think undocumented students are not fit to govern?

Neo-Nazi Militia Leader Shoots and Kills Four, Including One Toddler, In Murder-Suicide
Racism, explicit or not, is a major driver for anti-immigration discourse and policy. Too often we see this discourse played out violently. Early in April immigrants were ambushed and killed by an armed militia, and not a month later another killing spree. It should be noted that violent incidents like these are not isolated by their extremity or reasoning. These actions are encourage and facilitated by federal and state laws. Please watch our video on how white supremacist are driving anti-immigration legislation.

Hispanics To GOP: Don't Double My Student Loans
Nearly a quarter of all people under 17 years old is Latino. It should be a high priority to provide education opportunities this segment of our communities for the sake of a better future for everyone. Doubling the student loan interest rates does exactly the opposite. Don't double the rates!

What Are For-Profit Colleges Doing in ALEC?
For-profit education is a obscene practice. How good can an education be when the bottom line is profits, and not education? For-profit colleges already make a killing; and they help lenders make a killing also. Students in for-profit colleges have the highest rates of defaulting on loans. What's more is that Latino and people of color are over represented in for-profit colleges.
But of course, the industry wants more and they are employing the services of the American Legislative Exchange Council to help them do it(flickr: froboy)

Marco Rubio Meets With Key Democrats Over Alernative DREAM Act
On Wednesday, Marco Rubio met with key Democrats to discuss an alternative to the DREAM Act. Is this an over-compromise on the Democrat's side or a step in the right direction? Rubio has repeatedly stated that his alternative would be limited. Particularly in that there would be legalization but not a pathway to citizenship. How much compromise is too much?

Did Wal-Mart Bribe LA City Council Officials?
Wal-Mart is in damage control mode. This past Sunday the NY Times released an investigation that found widespread bribes in Wal-Mart's takeover of the Mexican market. Are Wal-Mart's shady practices limited to Mexico? Organizers in Los Angeles hold that Wal-Mart's practices are also present in the United States.

This week is a big week for immigrants rights and anti-racism. On Wednesday April 25th the Supreme Court will review SB1070 and decide whether states can address immigration at their will. Will racial profiling be OKd by the federal government or will states eager to follow Arizona's law put on the break?

Undocumented immigrants in Arizona are bracing themselves for the worst in the Supreme Court's revision of SB 1070. Immigrants are taking the proper precautions should they be forced to leave the state, including leaving children to guardians, homes to residents and more. Nebraska Restores Prenatal Care for Undocumented Women
The state of Nebraska has reinstated prenatal care for undocumented women. This came against the wishes of many, including the Governor which was of the opinion that it was taxpayer money mispent on top of being an incentive for more undocumented immigrants. I guess pro-life conservatives in Nebraska reserve their concern of the unborn only for 'certain' babies.

The undocumented community is often afraid to report crimes to the police, but as Ms. Keshavarz shares with us, this should not to be the case as reporting your incident may make you eligible for a visa and help protect you from further crimes - SHARE!
NOTE: This video is in reference to states like California where police may not ask for the immigration status of victims of crimes.
