This country was built by immigrants who supplanted the people who lived here through genocide. We should consider our past.

I have absolute intolerance for intolerance.

But as long as the “white man” runs the govt.’s house, white america will be in control. They have always “done” to be in control.

History reveals that it was the ancesters of these people who came to these shores with their guns and disease laden bodies and livestock that wiped out whole native tribes. As far as I’m concerned these same people are still very sick and harbour hatred and murder in their hearts, nothing in their culture and behavior has changed. Jesus said it right when He said “you will know them by their fruit.”

Until now I wasn’t sure of where I stood on immigration!

Racism is alive and growing. Truly a sad state of our Nation. What ever happened to the Christian command to love one another?

Comments like these are easy to change depending on the group being smeared. It has been going on for decades and is not likely to stop. We must rise above and turn negatives into positives by adding the value immigrants will and do provide to our community, state and nation.

These people have paid a dear price in the struggle for a better life for themselves and their families. I believe they have earned the right to be part of this country. Most of our ancestors were immigrants, if you recall.

Honored to sign – Susan Corson Finnerty’s comment, yesterday, really struck home for me.

Unless you are a native American, we all all illegal immigrants in this country. Lack of immigration reform is hurting our economy.

Keep ignorance from rearing it’s ugly head!

I don’t know how anyone who knows a Latino immigrant can say anything like this. I teach English to Latino immigrants and they are good people, raising families that they want to succeed in this country. These statements are misinformed and hateful.

Injustices and inconsistencies abound. Farms in CA and elsewhere depend on cheap labor for harvests. Friends who are elementary school teachers in Gilroy, CA tell me that after the crops are picked in late Fall they lose many of their students. INS has swooped in and parents (cheap labor) have been deported back to Mexico or other places south of the border. Is the INS cleverly in cahoots with the agricultural industry? Are illegal aliens used as virtual slaves when the INS and farmers basically close their eyes during times of a need for intensive labor? People are used for monetary gain, then deported when the powers-that-be have squeezed the last ounce of sweat from them. Meanwhile, school children and families suffer the consequences of such manipulative and unjust practices which only focus on profit and not human decency. How sad!
