Don't let this absurdity drive immigration reform!

Don’t let anti-immigrant rhetoric drive the immigration debate. Nativist, racist and fear-mongering hate groups are working hard to drive their narrative on immigration. For years now, anti-immigrant groups have successfully infused their message into the national immigration debate. Influencing local politicians and national figures - with the same talking points: "More punishment", "Militarize the border", "Massive deportations", "More Enforcement." This has resulted in dangerous policies that have led to flagrant violation of human rights.

It is time we put basic immigrant, human rights back in the forefront of our national values and priorities! Let Congress and the President know that to reform immigration they must prioritize "Immigrant rights before enforcement."Add your name and message - make sure your voice is heard!

As we all know, we are a nation of immigrants: mine were Jews from Russia and the Ukraine. It’s our great strength and distinction as a culture, and we should all protect the rights of the latest immigration.

Everyone in the United States comes from immigrant stock — some of our families just arrived sooner. We need to recognize the basic human rights of all people.

Mexicans are the hardest working, most family-values oriented people that this gringo has ever worked with.

If you’re not Native American, you come from immigrants. We are a nation of immigrants. That’s what makes us strong.

I am a third generation American of Eastern European descent. My grandparents came through “legally” via Ellis Island. They did bottom-paying clandestine jobs and were degraded and ostracized, just as modern immigrants, especially from the southern Americas, are today humiliated and abused.

The difference is: unlike my people, most “illegal” immigrants today are descendants of the tribal people that founded this land first, who were falsely attacked and forced to abandon their homelands during the Spanish American and other US wars of American imperialism, and are falsely accused today of “breaking the law” by simply re-entering their homelands and looking for work.

I say liberty and justice for all. Militarizing the border affects most negatively the indigenous peoples who live nearby. I know I live here on stolen land and it belongs to other people. Whites who can’t coexist should go home to where they came from. We white folks are only here by the blood of darker-skinned peoples. It is time to do some pay-back. It is time for justice for all. Wake up, rascists and propagandists. Learn true American history. You won’t learn it on Fox News. I recommend reading a copy of “A People’s History of the United States” available in most community libraries. Thanks for listening.

The bigoted ignorant comments in the videos are not reserved for Latinos but “last one in” thr country has always been the scapegoat athough the “native Americans” have suffered the same indignities over and above slaughter. While 11million illegal immigrants have violated our outdated immigration laws creating a quandary about “what to do” legal an even illegal immigrants from Latin America are as productive by and large as any others. I do think that they must integrate as most previous ethnic groups have and should learn English [despite the fact that I can speak basic Spanish….which I learned in order to communicate in Spain and "south of the border’.

The real danger in this country are the rightwing hate-filled people such as those videod here.

America is a stronger, healthier country because immigrants want to come here, and we need them as much as they need our acceptance.

Please work to prevent mistrust and fear. Give the “Dreamers” a path to citizenship and help give farms the temporary workers they need to pick crops. This could be good for both the country lending their workers AND for America.

Anti-immigrant hysteria heightens and lessens in cycles throughout our history. The last massive effort on deportations resulted in “repatriation” to Mexico of countless of citizens whose sole wrong doing was having been born into a Mexican family. In each cycle, strong resistance to the hate mongers tones down the hatred spewed. No action lets the xenophobic and racist fear mongering become the word of “truth”.
