Don’t let anti-immigrant rhetoric drive the immigration debate. Nativist, racist and fear-mongering hate groups are working hard to drive their narrative on immigration. For years now, anti-immigrant groups have successfully infused their message into the national immigration debate. Influencing local politicians and national figures - with the same talking points: "More punishment", "Militarize the border", "Massive deportations", "More Enforcement." This has resulted in dangerous policies that have led to flagrant violation of human rights.
It is time we put basic immigrant, human rights back in the forefront of our national values and priorities! Let Congress and the President know that to reform immigration they must prioritize "Immigrant rights before enforcement."Add your name and message - make sure your voice is heard!

SPREAD THE WORD:

horseshit there is. These idiots never get any smarter over the
years, and they always lose. This is exactly what they want, because
they sell every loss as yet more evidence that they are being
“suppressed” by people who “can’t see the real truth” that only
the True Believer in their brand of neo-naziism can really comprehend.
Keeps the idiots going to think that they’re on a holy mission,
fighting the forces of ignorance and evil, when they themselves
are those forces. But then, that’s me talking: I had many
Latino friends, but no racist or nazi chums. So I’m living proof
of the deep liberal bias the holy warriors eternally battle against.
I’m also a fairly-far-left-leaning liberal/progressive, both socio-politically and theologically. And I live in a place, Napa, California, where you can’t throw a rock without hitting a Mexican… especially during the grape harvest and the crush… but also during pretty much the rest of the year, too. Nearly every one of Mary-Anne’s employees in her restaurant are Latino… some of them barely able to speak English.
Since me, and pretty much just one or two of the homeless guys living under the bridge, are almost the only Democrats around here (Napa, California is decidedly Republican), needless to say there’s no small amount of racism and other godawful crap aimed at the Hispanics in this town. And it’s shameful. Outrageous. Of course, it’s not as bad as Arizona, but, still.
Racist whites, though, should read the population statistical predictions for the next 50 to 100 years: We whites will become the minority, and mostly Hispanics will become the majority. Mark my words. Hispanics need only be patient for a couple of generations, and they’ll have whatever they want. And from my observation, all they want are the same things that whites have ever wanted… or blacks… or Asians, or anyone else. We’re all just people, struggling to make it in the world. It matters not, the color of anyone’s skin.
The only thing that Hispanics need to be careful about during the next century, is not to allow whatever bad that socialism brought them in their home country to swing them too far to the right, as we see in, for example, Miami, with the Cuban population there. Republicans, I’m sorry, are enemies of the poor, and people of color, and the LGBT community, and government programs that really and truly help people… and I could go on and on. Hispanics, as they acquire wealth, need to not become selfish and self-interested to the detriment of others less fortunate than themselves, like so many whites, who then became Republicans, have done in this nation’s history.
Do not become a people of hatred and oppression. Remember philosopher George Santayana’s words about people who don’t know their history being doomed to repeat it. Never forget the Republicans in, for example, Arizona who, if they had their way, would escort every illegal (and even some legal, if they had their way) Hispanic immgrant to the border, never to return. They don’t care whose lives the turn inside out, or whom they manifestly harm. Do not, America’s Hispanics, forget that history. Do not, over the course of the rest of this century, become members of the oppressive Right wing. The left, in America, is NOTHING like socialism in your home country. There is no danger of anything like what you’ve seen there ever happening here. Stay on the Left. Be humane.
And welcome to America!
