This should not be for-profit corporations. If needed it should be a government operation. This smells as bad as all the Halliburton Iraw war contracting. I cannot believe this is something you support. I have followed CCA in the Southwest and this is not right. I have been proud to have you as Chair of the DNC up until now.

For-profit prisons are immoral and dangerous; they have no place in a civilized country, let alone one that calls itself a democracy.

I don’t like all this republican bashing. The fact is that both parties have sold out. In fact, Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Senator Bill Nelson both endorsed the facility while Republican Congressman Diaz Balart and Republican Senator George Lemieux have come out against the prison. It’s not a matter of who is right or wrong, but what is right or wrong. Debbie and Bill Nelson are woefully (and defiantly) on the wrong side of this.

What’s up with this???

The fact that there are for profit prisons is already a moral wrong. The imperative of all companies is to make profit and to grow its profits year by year. For a private prison company to fulfill its goals it needs an ever increasing number of prisoners put in jail. Why in the world does Mrs. Wasserman Shultz want another private prison? The only explanation I can find for her to do that is that the company CCA has paid her money or offered her financial support for the next elections. That means she has sold her soul to the devil. She has dismissed the voices of her constituents telling her they do not want this private prison, because nothing else matters to her but money. And for money this nation is being sold to private interests.
