IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    Certain functions of the state must be maintained by the state and one of those functions is the prison system. The state must be directly responsible for those who are in its care, whether they have been proven guilty of breaking laws or are merely charged and in the midst of due process to determine guilt. There is no honor in turning these people over to private entities driven more by a profit motive than the need to provide due process. Americans should be better than that.

    A profit-driven private detention center relies on the criminalization and commodification of human beings for its success. This is so clearly wrong and at odds with any justice-seeking ideal the Democratic Party purports to uphold.     C’mon Debbie, you know these large For-Profit corporation(s) are wrong for the Commons, wrong for our economy, wrong for our country and wrong for the planet! It is wrong what these large corporations and the few wealthy are doing to us all because of the profit motive, and YOU are their vehicle to their means. Do the right thing, do what your job duties entail which is governing and promoting a civilized society, to assure that the powerful and wealthy do not take advantage of the poor and the weak and less fortunate, to promote liberty, justice and good Public Policy for the Commons, to listen to your Constituents, to do what is good & right.
