Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    These people are looking for a way to have a better life, not to be in prison in America so maybe they get to eat and sleep in beds. Do not get them in a detention center, that is against everything that America stands for.

    I am very disappointed that both you and Sen. Nelson are supporting the private prison company CCA to build an ICE facility in Florida. Very disappointed. I am an active Democrat in north Florida as well as a member of the League of Women Voters. Leagues all over the U.S. are studying privatization. I’ve studied private prisons for my league and find it lacking. Please say no to CCA. Listen to Florida.

    We don’t need don’t need more profitization of/by and for the Prison-Industrial-Complex. If anything like this is to happen, it should be the responsibility of the government and we, the people, not them, the corporations. Please listen your constituents and say no to more corporate power grabs and more turning government functions over to the private, profit-driven sector. Say NO to CCA (!) and remember, government is not supposed to make a profit. It is supposed to be accountable to the voters, and so are their elected representative.
