Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    I was stunned to learn of your support of an arcane organization that destroys lives for profit.


    Denying medical care, unjustified denial of parol and / or release for the sake of keeping the inmate numbers up to maintain higher profits.

    I am seriously shocked that you have not heard about the abuses of the CCA. How about you read some critiques of private prison systems? See what these for-profit are doing. And then just say NO to utilizing them in any capacity.

    Debbie, why on earth are you endorsing this? If privatizing prisons, or schools, or the military actually made financial sense I would understand. BUT it always ends up costing more, gives poorer results, and for a critical situation like this would end up lacking oversight. Please either rethink, or at least explain why you are endorsing this.
