Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

Always vote against CCA. They are not our friends. Once they get into your state they will start rewriting your state’s criminal laws to gain a larger profit. They were behind S.B. 1070 here in AZ.

4 things should never be subjected to “free market forces” (i.e. done for profit): National defense (no mercenary armies), law enforcement (including the penal system), fire fighting, and health care.

For profit prisons create an incentive to manufacture ever more criminals. I know people who have been wrongfully incarcerated for immigration issues, and it has destroyed their lives, although the for-profit prison got paid anyway. Why are you supporting the destruction of your constituents’ lives? Shame on you.

CCA is really a terrible corporation. Some of their prisons charge inmates $5 a minute to make calls—outrageous.

Press on…democracy is the aim yet to be achieved under the US constitution. That political representatives continually violate the overwhelming choices of their constituencies only confirms the bankruptcy and usurpation of the process for greedy, selfish and wanton disregard for the public good. Debbie Wasserman Schultz positions too often epitomize the “political opportunism” abound – corrosive and corrupting mindsets denying attainment of dire needed exemplary communities and societies.

If detention centers are needed, they should be build at government expense. When private prisons as build, the profit motive causes people to be over zealous in finding people to house in those facilities.

Outrageous! Private prisons should be outlawed in this country. Look what happened in Pennsylvania, judges bribed by for-profit-prison reps to fill the cells with youth offenders, guilty or not. Outcome included suicides, jailed judges… a nightmare for what, FOR PROFIT! SHAME SHAME SHAME
