Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

The Democratic Party post-Clinton has been a powerful tool for enacting reactionary Republican policies. I encourage ordinary people, poor and middle classes, to respond to the party(ies) appropriately.

Imprisonment is not the answer……getting rid of NAFTA is……and is why people from Mexico come to this country to take jobs U.S.citizens would not do…..particularly with the working conditions “illegal workers” (oxymoron here) are forced to endure. Get a clue, or stop ignoring the known reality.

I know they private prisons are a big lobby but it really is harmful to all of us to have them expand.

Shame on you, Representative Wasserman, for supporting the new facility for CCA. Wait a minute, did I just say “Representative”? 98% of Your constituents do not agree with you! Do you even listen to them? How can you call yourself a Democrat when you are against the people? That’s the Republicans job. Or maybe I should ask, how much kickback money are You getting from CCA? Please withdraw your support for this new private prison (all prisons should be public anyway) and show your constituents, you know the people who voted for you, that you are doing what they want you to do. Thank for staying true to democratic ideals and aspirations.

To have a corporation run a prison or detention center is using money to encourage an increase in prisoners for the sole purpose of profits, draining the state of money that needs to be spent elsewhere.

In addition the constituents have voiced their opposition to having a detention center built in their town and in a democracy the senator representing them should be doing just that and NOT allow profit motivations of a corporation trump what the people want.

Cease from aiding and abetting the Security-Industrial Complex. You should know better than that. If you have taken money from the Corrections Corporation of America, you need to give it back and to cease being in the pocket of the CCA. You are not only jeopardizing your reputation, but also that of Barack Obama—-a very catastrophic thing to do as head of the Presidential Campaign in an election year. The positions you take matter even more now than ever before.
