Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

It is disgusting to support the prison-industrial complex against the will of the people. For profit prisons and detention centers will lead to more prisoners solely to help the bottom line of the for-profit prison industry. Shame!

This is one of the reasons why I un-subscribed from your newsletter yesterday. Too often you have represented for the 1%. Democracy lies with the voters, not the ones who bought you. Do you not understand why the approval rating for congress is 13%?

Privatizing government functions takes them out of control of the public. Why would a Democrat be in favor of this?

For-profit prisons have proven to be a very bad thing, with unaccountable, substandard care and untrained/poorly-trained minimum wage guards. Private prisons foster corruption, as the case of the judges sentencing young people in return for kickbacks proves. Private prisons should not exist. Your constituents (98%) do not want a private prison in your district. Yet you are supporting it? What is wrong with you? How much is CCA donating to your campaign? Stop it! Say NO to private prisons!

This seems fundamentally flawed, unfair, undemocratic, and perhaps worse. There is something dark about this, crony or manipulated, lobby politics is playing a part, not the clear need for a new correctional facility. And it is PRIVATIZED — this resembles a REPUBLICAN tactic to divert public dollars for private gain. It is UNACCEPTABLE.

No privatization of prisons or detention centers. Shameful! We are all immigrants including mine that came here in 1667.
