Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    The DNC is supposed to be setting an example of how Democracy works in America and yet, you are going against the will of 98% of your constituents. For-profit detention is an awful idea and it leads to modern day slavery, increases in racial and ethnic profiling and should be banned in general. Set an example!

    Private prisions are insane. They contracts demand a gauranteed quota of prisoners. Inmates in private prisions are slaves making money for the jailers. Never has a for profit provided a public service of better quality less expensively.

    Privatization is abdication of public responsibility and a blatant theft of public funds.

Maybe Debbie should join the Repuke Governor from Arizona who has turned all the public prisons over to COA, and filling them will illegals who will never see the light of day as no one even knows they are there.

    Private prisons are out of control and like too many corporations have special relationships with too many in congress. The numbers of people in prison in the USA is outrageous!

    This is why I am no longer a Democrat. There are so few that can be trusted to truly represent the interests of their constituents, and working people throughout the country. Instead of this, Ms. W-S should concentrate on finding candidates to oppose Boehner, Cantor, etc., and on caring about the needs of the people.
