Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    A right wing approach is a wrong-way ‘solution’. Corporate; For-Profit detention facilities are base for the fascist undermining of the U.S. Include all stock-holders and corporate detention facility profiteers amongst those who decry freedom and deserve no better treatment for themselves.     The private prison industry is a threat to democracy: they are automatic lobbyists for bad laws. The industry should not exist. CCA is one of the worst of them. No Democrat should have anything to do with them.

    For-profit correctional facilities are more concerned with profit & loss than meeting the basic human needs of their inmates. These types of facilities are far better off having them governmentally operated.

    The private corporate prisons in America are a shameful scourge in our nation. They encourage the jailing of individuals for profit, the lobbying for laws to jail as many people as possible, even the use of bribes to corrupt judges, as in the Pennsylvania juvenile offenders case, to supply bodies for jails at taxpayer expense. We have 5% of the world’s population, but 25% of the world’s prisoners – corporate American greed at its height of depravity. Rep. Wasserman, listen to the people and withdraw your endorsement for CCA’s project!
