Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

    Hi Debbie,

I cannot imagine why you would support Prisoners for Profit. If you have written about this please let me know as your principles seem so opposite to a system that makes money off the backs of poor people who cannot afford good representation. Please reconsider your position on this.

Dear Rep. Schultz, I have respect for you being one of the more progressive Democrats in Congress. Please do as this petition asks and say NO TO CCA!

Please stop any efforts to build more private prisons. You should be looking for ways to diminish the size of prison populations, not building more expensive human warehouses for petty criminals.

Another aspect of this issue that I don’t like is that states and municipalities have to guarantee CCA that their prisons will be filled to a certain percentage. That leads to abuse and manipulation of the legal system through quotas. Subsequent utilization of that warehoused manpower at significantly less than minimum wage can produce what’s tantamount to a slave labor market.

At the very least, you need to publicly explain your reasoning.

Please say no to CCA! It is counter productive and immoral to be obsessed with maximizing profit anywhichway and at whatever cost.
