Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

Do your constituents matter or is this all about lining your pockets with corporate money? I think I know but you do have one chance to say no to the corporate owned corrections facility.

For-profit prisons are the product of a sick culture. These immigrants are “illegal” only because we invent laws to define them as such. We need a solution, not more fodder for the prison system.

Shame on you, Debbie. I thought you were better than this. Can’t you come up with something better than “zoning” to justify a for profit prison? You are making it hard for me to be a proud Democratic woman.

I’m shocked to hear that you would support such a departure from the administrations’s direction on immigration. I’m astonished that a person in your position at the DNC would hold such an aberrant stance.

I do not agree with profit making prisons or detention centers. If money is to be made, the prisoners should work to pay for their stay in the prison and any profits should be give to the United States.

Why would you support this? Were you lobbied or paid to do this?

I do not like the direction immigration policy is taking and the role CCA has been playing in the formation of this policy. I do not like the trafficking in guns and the money being made by the arms industry that influences public policy toward immigrants and minorities and flow of drugs. Wealthy corporations and individuals are corrupting the political process and debate by buying elected officials to an alarming degree. I would like to encourage you to take a stand for justice and fairness for the people who do not have the money to get their way.

The CCA and all for-profit detention centers are nothing more than a cash cow for corporations and shareholders with no genuine interest in solving immigration problems justly and reasonably. Please to the right thing and reject them.
