Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

The whole concept of private prisons sends chills down my spine. Their existence is reminiscent of Debtors Prison, Shanghaiing sailors, and Outright Slave Labor. I thought we were supposed to try to be a better country, not return to the time of Charles Dickens.

Knowing Wasserman’s usual opinions and outlooks I find her supporting this as downright unbelievable. What the heck is

    she thinking?

It is ridiculous to make profit out of the undocumented community. This needs to STOP!

We need to accept some of these immigrants with college degrees. And again, we should build more schools and less jails. It is more productive in the long run!

    rep. wasserman,

i believe it is unethical and immoral to sentence a man to prison under laws created by the legislature and the people, and then turn him over to for-profit corporations that will make money from the incarceration and labor of these people. no doubt, the inmates labor will be out sourced in profit making contracts with no OSHA and no EPA oversite. ask the prisoners and guards at the federal prison in marianna.

be asurred; if there is a way to corrupt private prisons, it will come to pass

I am opposed to for profit prisons and detention centers. Why? Because whatever it takes, they have to make money, which means they will guarantee to keep their facilities full. This is no way to deal withis problem. I am shocked that you would sign on to this.

I have been a supporter of Rep. Schultz because I live part-time in Florida and she is usually a line a defense against the extreme right. However, Florida is in deep economic trouble and Rep. Wasserman is clearly under pressure to “make jobs” in the backwood areas of her state. Debbie — Do Not Fold!!!!

Please. You already know that the answer is not more prisons, but changes in immigration and drug laws! CCA has a terrible record (except to make money for themselves, guards, judges, and politicians) in their existing facilities.

Do not do this. You normally represent what is best in the Democratic Party; don’t do the worst.

    Thank you.

Dear Debbie, you should know that there are many reports that CCA is doing a terrible job here in Georgia and I don’t think they can do a better job anywhere else…
