Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    America needs to rethink our current prison system; it is out of date. We need to look at why we are filling our jails and prisons so quickly. We build and fill them up again for private profits for big corporations. Isn’t it messed up to make big profits off of the misery of our fellow man? We do it with the health insurance, medical, and pharmaceutical industries profiting from the infirmities and illness of our friends and neighbors. Prisons are just a step behind, let’s just breakaway from this process that sucks away at our humanity.

    I’m usually totally on the same page w/ Senator Wasserman-Schultz, but this time I feel that she has gone off the rails. This is so NOT a good idea based on the record of escapes of the current for profit prisons. I’m shocked that she has endorsed it.

    Congresswoman, you were an idol of mine. I don’t have too many heroes in congress, but truly you, to me seemed like a shining beacon of hope in a sea of failure.


    Why are you doing this? I don’t understand this. Please, please don’t vote for this. Please, I appeal to you as an intelligent human being, not to endorse this. Please.
