Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

Actions like yours are giving the Democratic Party a bad name. If you want to get progressives to sit out Pres. Obama’s reelection campaign, and guarantee a Republican sweep of the House and the Senate, you are going about it the right way. But you still have time to change back to Democratic values. ALEC should be writing scripts only for Robo-Republicans, not for Democrats!!

Shame on you Rep. Schultz! CCA profits by making sure that Black and Brown people are imprisoned for the most nonsensical reasons! And to add insult to injury, we are now in a country that does NOT arrest White folks for murdering Black folks! What the Hell! PLEASE drop your support of the CCA – even though they are (I’m sure) writing checks for your campaign (and/or to the Democrat party)!

I certainly don’t want a privately owned prison in my district. Nor do I want any privately owned prisons in my country. You are supposed to be representing the people in your district, not ANY corporation. Why should any private citizens be profiting on the imprisonment of other citizens (or non-citizens, for that matter). The punishment and imprisoning of criminals should be strictly under the control of our government, who, we the people are supposed to be in control of, the last I heard, not some greedy corporation willing to do anything for a profit..

Your solution is self serving! Be the incredible woman you are meant to be, NOT the insufficient role model for other women and the leaders of this country. Is that the legacy you would like to leave?

The fact that “private prisons” even exist, even for convicts, damages my faith in my country. To keep people who have not committed crimes, who only came here for financial reasons in these for profit prisons is disgusting. We, my country, my America, the place of my birth, we have become a sociopath nation.
