Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

As a fan of yours, I do not understand your support of this. Lives for money is not the American way.

Like all other investment bubbles, this one will burst. Where will communities who allowed the takeover of their local economies by this industry be then?

Detention Centers always end up in economically challenged areas or else they would turn them down too. Listen the the community in which this detention center is proposed. LBB

    Debbie,

Please do your homework on for profit detention centers. They are just that – for profit. Check out what has happened elsewhere after they forgot all their promises to the places they moved into so that they could focus on linig their pockets.

Even if you do not like immigrants, which is a sad commentary for a representative of the people, think of your farmers whose survival depends on the Mexican farmworkers. Take a look at what has happened elswhere. I live in a state, Michigan, where unemployed people here will not work in the fields because the work is too hard and when they do go out they are very inefficient and still cause loss to the farmers. Right now we are facing the possibility of thousand of pounds of asparagus going down because the farmwrorkers fear the indiscriminate raids by ICE. Even the workers who are legal can bge detained until they can produce all the right paperwork.
