Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

Debbie – If you want to sell your constituents out to big business prisons, switch to the Republican Party!

We think you are a great Congresswoman but this is a bad idea because when the bottom line is profit motive, it opens the door to misuse of power to generate the profit, no matter what the stated “good intentions” may be. It creates a questionable situation at best, as is proven by our for-profit prisons. If there was a detention center that was non-profit, that might be a different story. Then there would be no motive to railroad individuals into the facility, and it would be easier to oversee. In a non-profit facility there would likely be more proper and individualized attention to the situations of these individuals, with a balance of compassion and the law.

Your support of private prisons shames you and the Democrats you represent.

Debbie, as a loyal Democrat I implore you to Not support CCA. First, I don’t want Privately owned prisons! These organizations are for profit, which do not serve in the best interest of the public. Naturally, I’m against another facility being built.
