Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

I have worked in a ‘privatized’ prison and in the Texas prison system (TDJC). The waste is awful, the treatment sometimes inhumane, and it will cost the community more than they believe they will benefit! NO NO NO to CCA!

People, including children, are held in disgusting, dehumanizing circumstances who have not been convicted of any crime. CCA is a national disgrace!

To empower the CCA is unwise and immoral.

    Debbie,

Really? You know better than to privatize and profit in these matters.

Ignoring your constituents to promote anti-immigrant business makes it look like you’re in CCA’s pocket. Please say NO to CCA!

It is inhumane for CCA and similar corps to make a profit on detentions and deportations. I have personally long fought and hard for decent and justice in American prisons. Immigrants and their children are not criminals. They are at heart poor suffering people willing at any cost to come to the US for better lives for themselves and their loved ones.

Even crossing the border illegally is a “crime;”but

it is not a moral crime. My own ancestors crossed the stormy Atlantic in a tiny ship in the winter under despicable conditions

in order to become free from British tyranny. Great native indian tribes lived on the lands peacefully until their land was stolen and they were robbed and murdered by those seekers of justice and freedom . How noble was that? Weren’t they illegal immigrants at least in a moral sense? I have supported you strongly before this but differ greatly on this matter. No profit on imprisoning illegal mexican families or women, men and children individuals! Please VOTE NO. Thanks you in the name of respect, compassion, and humanity, Nancie Chalmers Herbst

Stope siding with the corporations, especially, when it relates to putting people in jail, and is some cases, separating families, removing a parent or parents from their children in a traumatic way! No, Debbie, Corporations are not people, especially, corporations that incarcerate humans and privatize the penal system!

These prisons for hire just “hold” people in cells. There is no education, no recreation, no chance for taking courses, or even any healthy exercise.

Listen to President Obama. Let’s stop holding people in prison who were just seeking a better life. Let’s stop breaking up families. Let’s read the Bible carefully. Take care of the sojourner, feed the stranger and alien.

Debbie, I have always admired you, but this stance perplexes me. The for-profit prisons have proved no advantage to the communities they are in and have cost the taxpayers more than government-run facilities. Please change your mind.
