Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

CCA hires employees at less than the going rate for Unionized workers, gives them less training, and since corporations are now considered people it is basically a money sucking, Capitalistic pig, trying to do as little as possible for as much profit as possible

We need to do away with all “for profit” prisons in this country. The existance of these “for profit” institutions invites corruption and impedes justice.

Law enforcement and corrections are inherently governmental functions. Arizona is a perfect example of why private industry cannot be allowed into this market. It is clear private prisons have been behind the writing the racist laws in Arizona that allow citizens, based only on the way they look, to be asked for proof of their citizenship.

Private for profit prisons have no place a society that has any moral conscience at all.

    Ms.Schultz,

Please do not affiliate with any efforts to exploit vulnerable people – non-U.S. citizens in detention, many of whom don’t speak English nor have legal representation. The privatization of prisons and detentions centers is a bad, bad thing. America is better than this! Sincerely, Frances Posel

Don’t you realize that when you make something FOR PROFIT, then those in the business (all aspects of it) will make sure that there are plenty of customers?! In the past even judges sentenced those committing petty crimes to prison so that they could fill the empty slots; there were paybacks involved. Check it out! This is how peoples’ civil rights get usurped. Please do NOT let this go forward.

CCA is the worst thing that has ever happened to incarceration in this country; if society cannot operate this function than perhaps we need to review the entire principle of incarceration. Imprisonment, like Healthcare, should never be “FOR PROFIT!”

This CCA project is NOT something that a “progressive” would recommend. Could it be, that you are another right of center Dem, just like our President, who obviously has some sway over this decision? How about listening to your constituents instead?
