Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

I usually strongly support your progressive positions. However, I cannot fathom why you would side with CCA on ANY subject. As you well know, this country incarcerates more people as a percent of the population and also in absolute numbers than any other country, thanks greatly to the influence of corporations like CCA on our corrupt politicians. This is ridiculous, and I certainly hope you will side with what is moral and just, and not the corporatocracy and CCA.

Prisons/Detention Centers should not be run FOR PROFIT-this rewards sub-standard services and encourages abuse.

As a nation we have become addicted to incarcerating in stead of correcting. Privatizing prisons will only add to the problem. Prisons for profit are a dangerous entity.

Prison systems should not be for-profit, just as health care and education should not be for-profit. Tax the wealthiest corporations and individuals appropriately and we can afford to have good public systems in all areas of our nation.
