Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

I have had personal experience with “for profit prisons”. They are a money making venture for the companies!

No amount of campaign contributions is worth siding with this reprehensible corporation.

For-profit prisons are the worst tghing since debtor-prisons in Dickensian England.

The profit motive conflicts with the reason, prsumably, that we jail peropl, namely that it is for them to redeem themselves and go on to be better citizens. We should only keep someone jailed for as long as they need to realize crime does not pay as well as work.

CCA builds on keeping people locked up for as long as possible because that is how they make money. They don’t care if someone is being rehabilitated, learns a trade or becomes a better person, only that the corporation gets paid.

    You should know better.

It stands to reason that when incarceration is made profitable more people will be incarcerated to increase the bottom line. That’s how capitalism works. And we all know the race of the people who will be increasingly incarcerated.

I was shocked to hear you are in favor of this Ms. Wasserman- Schultz. Perhaps you have a good reason? Then please come out and tell us before we lose all faith in you as a representative. Prisons for profit is a terrible idea. The sole goal of a corporation is to make a profit. If that corporation is a prison, it will do what ever is necessary to keep people in. Shameful!
