Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

I find it appalling that as a representative you can speak about what is happening to women’s rights (I just saw you on MSNBC) but can be so callous toward humanity in general. For profit prisons are heinous. You need to talk to your constituents!

I contribute to the DNC and the DCCC. As an Arizona resident, I

strongly object to these “incarcerate for profit” prisons. The

majority of inmates are latinos/hispanics caught up in the infamous

“sweeps” by America’s most racist Sheriff, Joe Arpaio. These prisons

provide a financial incentive for racial profiling in our state and, in

addition, do not provide properly for inmate safety or for the

    safety of surrounding communities.

I urge you to reconsider your support for these types of correctional

    institutions. Thank You.

There is a moral imperative to stop injustice. Also, our country can’t afford these corporate scams on our tax dollars.

Why not respond? Give these people your reasons, if you have any. But it sure sounds like the residents are definitely against it. And I don’t think CCA has a very good reputation going.

While not a constituent, I am a Democrat. Is this our future to become a land composed of private prisons? This is not what I want for our country. This is what is wrong with our leadership be it government or the private sector. No vision what so ever!

CCA is a growing disaster for our country. We cannot allow a for profit corporation to be in a position to have any more influence on our system of justice than the power of money already has.

privately owned prisons are corrupting our system of justice. We have seen it in Pennsylvania where judges got kick backs for sentencing teenagers for crimes that previously didn’t warrant that type of punishment prior to the building of the privately owned prison.
