Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    Do you understand the extent to which this jailor lobbies?


    In your position, simple review of CCA’s lobbying activities would deter my approval for anything they propose. I’d think of campaign contributions from them as poison to my candidacy.

    this is NOT the hope and change in our country’s misguided immigration policy I voted for when I supported Obama and the Democratic Party in 2008. I am deeply disappointed and call upon Rep Wasserman and her Democratic colleagues to disavow this imprisonment mentality approach to this complex immigration reform question.

    Stop supporting the Corporations and support the people! As a retired NYS Correction Sergeant, a Union Member of NYSCOPBA, the ATU, and a registered Democrat that votes, privatized prisons do not work. For profit incarceration is not corrective and does not work!

    It is absolutely this sort of behavior that caused me, and I suspect a lot of other ordinary Americans, to stop supporting the DNC. What you are doing is not just about Florida, it’s illustrative of why people who despise Republicans are also giving up on Democrats.
