Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

Privatization ALWAYS costs the taxpayer more in the long run.

Correctional agencies are a major industry and many, many, towns are dependent on correctional facilities for employment. Debbie we have enough correctional facilities, build low income housing which is really needed.

Putting people in prisons, sadly, has become a very profitable business, and you don’t seem like the kind of person, Debbie, who supports prisoners for profit; at least, I hope you don’t.

Representative Wasserman-Schultz …either BE with the people and oppose that anti-American corporation, or find yourself at odds with an empowered DEMOCRATIC patriotic majority.

You can’t be with US and with our domestic enemies at the same time.

Your choice, but the POWER ultimately resides with the people.

This is a disaster! Don’t support it please. Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona and Sherrif Joe Araipo are behind this movement and will make huge personal profits. Private prisons are not secure, not properly regulated, and prey on the unfortunate but illegal immigrants seeking a better life. They provide a perverse incentive to arrest and detain them. We are better than this. Not a good solution.

    Thank you.

This is another example of the Democratic Party and it’s mixed messages at best, and the sellout of our principles at worst.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz does not reflect my ideals of democracy for people not corporations, for that matter neither does the DNC.

a private prison? really? the economy is half-dead. we need jobs in productive industries that can put down roots and create demand via the ripple effect. that’s how to get us out of this mess. per dollar spent prison projects generate few jobs and the ones they do are dependent on the perpetuation of a permanent criminal underclass. Build some new schools, day care centers, low income housing, parks, make long term low interest loans to viable neighborhood businesses, but don’t tie up OUR wealth subsidizing a massive out of state corporation when there are so many other vital needs going unmet!

Congresswoman Wasserman, I’m deeply disappointed with you. Please take a look at the record of CCA if you can as private prisons at least in Arizona receive no government auditing or oversite, even though deaths have resulted from escapees from these prisons. Your constituents have real legitimate public safety concerns. I do not want any more of my taxpayer dollars going to a subsidary of Haliburton. Please take another look at this issue and make a decision I and your constituents can support and respect.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE STOP THIS COMPANY FROM BUILDING AND OPERATING THESE PRIVATE DETENTION CENTERS AND PRISONS. THIS IS INHUMANE. THE ISSUES SURROUNDING IMMIGRATION WILL NOT GO AWAY BY DETAINING PRISONERS. THIS COMPANY HAS BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR ABUSING AND NEGLECTING IT’S DETAINEES. THE ONLY INTEREST THIS COMPANY HAS IN DETAINING IMMIGRANTS IS TO GAIN MONEY FOR EACH ONE THEY HOLD. WE WILL NEVER SEE TRUE IMMIGRATION REFORM IN THIS MANNER. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, I BEG OF YOU TO PLEASE HELP STOP THIS COMPANY. THAMK YOU!

CCA is a for profit corporation. More and longer incarcerations mean more profits. We already incarcerate too many people for minor infringements. A $100 drug deal can cost us taxpayers a six figure number to jail a low level street dealer. What a deal for CCA!!

For profit prisons are another form of slavery that lead to harsher sentances and long detentions. Please do not vote for the CCA prison for profit in Florida.

International human rights belong to every human being and

must be protected by every human being. Placing people in prison for personal profit is a criminal act and is against the United Nations Declaration of International Human Rights.

Stop the creation of for-profit private prisons or someday you may find yourselves placed inside one of these prisons.
