Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    For profit prisons are guaranteed a minimum number of prisoners in order to address the corporate bottom line. A minimum number of arrests and convictions MUST BE MADE in order to support the private prison system. That means more low wage, black, brown and poor white will be arrested to maintain the profit line of for-profit prisons regardless, Support for this system boarders on racial and class warfare against populations that are already over represented in the American gulag prison system. NO, NO, NO to for-profit prisons.

    CCA IS A BAD DEAL FOR THE PUBLIC.. I LIVE IN HERNANDO COUNTY IN FLORIDA AND CCA USED TO RUN THE COUNTY JAIL HERE.. THEY DID SUCH A POOR JOB THAT THE COUNTY AND THE SHERIFF TOOK BACK CONTROL OF THE COUNTY JAIL. PRISON FOR PROFIT ARE A BAD DEAL.


    I AM ASHAMED TO HEAR THAT YOU AND SENATOR NELSON ARE SUPPORTING THIS DEAL. REP WASSERMAN WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS WHEN YOUR SONSTITUENTS ARE OBVIOOUSLY AGAINST THIS.
