Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

They want to make our prison system for profit. We should be working on fairer laws not laws that keep people locked up. 1% welfare is what private prisons will become, because they are the one’s that will exploit running & owning the prisons. While the Gov’t pays them to do this.

Working with immigrants for over fifteen years, I can think of few organizations more anti-immigrant and evil than CCA. To side with CCA is a step in selling out to ALEC and FAIR.

I am in awe that a Democrat would support this, but it just goes to show that you can’t trust either party!

Your attempts to privatize the prison industry are outrageous. Some of these companies even want guarantees on the number of people that will be housed. Is justice going to come down to the needs of the private prison industry? You’ve got your head up your a— on this one. How much money have they given you?

Why do 55% of Americans not vote? I would be willing to bet many of them would say there is no difference between the parties. I personally can see some differences but NOT when it comes to doing corporate bidding. Stop for-profit prisons.

CCA is a terrible company built on the misery of people caught up in the correctional enterprise. Don’t endorse this madness.

    Debbie,

PLEASE look into the recent “Kids for Cash” Scandal in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The devastation and losses for everyone involved was, in part, because of a FOR PROFIT INCARCERATION CENTER. The results included children and families being destroyed, judges being disbarred and jailed, and a countless and (still ongoing) trail of corruption and bribery.

Another situation to help you understand why FOR PROFIT is unwise happened in Chicago when they turned over parking meter collections to a private agency. It has cost them millions more and deeply hurt the city.

I can’t believe that if you really understood what private prisons are like; you would want this.
