Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

I have a great deal of respect for you but this project is wrong. Can’t help but wonder what you are thinking. I am a democrat and have been all of my life. You are one individual that does not let republican get away with their baseless rhetoric and are quick to speak up against all that is wrong. Democrats do not need such problems at this time. What you are supporting is more "republican like " then anything I had ever dreamed you would favor. There is more to this story then what is being told

I have heard you on the radio many times and I like your stance on many issues. However, your support of CCA in your jurisdiction is very troubling. CCA is known for it’s human rights abuses and secretive agendas, among many other issues. Some 98% of your constituants are opposed to this huge and secretive facility moving into their neighborhoods. We do not have an undocumented worker problem, we have an illegal employer problem. It is up to Congress to fix this problem, which addresses human rights and families whose children are born here. Please oppose this CCA facility and investigate the abuses of CCA.

By comporting with CCA, Democrat Wasserman is also comporting with one of the largest members/contributors to ALEC, the organization that has done the most to release legislative chaos through the newly-Republicanized legislatures around the country.

I am sure that the constitutents would be against the prison even if it was built and run by the federal government. However, a private prison is a ticking time bomb. Mistreated prisoners will lead to numerous civil rights lawsuits and will end up costing your citizens much more than a federal built facility.

So long as we pay corporations to benefit off of crime— there will be every incentive to increase prison populations thus increasing how much we dedicate to corrections rather than preventing crime from happening.
