Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    We should not be privatizing prisons. CCA has not shown itself to be particularly intent on or able to administer “corrections” in its facilities. Support from the DNC for another CCA facility seems altogether inappropriate.

    I am totally against ANY privatized prisons. Prisons should be government run so that there is an accountability to the public and NOT profits for corporations.

    Prisons are the responsibility of the government.

    Prisons should not be “for profit”.


    You would go to jail for paying a company to “discipline” your child. Imagine a juvenile punishment company ad…

    “Let us spank’em for you! Half-off on Wednesdays”.


    Why is it legal pay a company to “discipline” adults?

    There should never be any private prisons anywhere. Police, law enforcement and military operations are all to be completely controlled by the People via the People’s government.


    The People do not give any police or military powers to any for profit organizations that have a vested interest in expanding and continuing their services and will lobby government to do so.


    You are accountable only to your constituents and derive all of your powers by the consent of the People that constitute the electorate.


    No branch of government has any legitimacy unless it is doing the business of the People, for the People and by the elected representatives of the people. This includes the Executive and Judicial branches of government as well as the Representative branch.
