Debbie: Say No To CCA!

Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT FOR SALE

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED - WE REACHED OUR GOAL!!! But feel free to leave your comment!

It’s more important to work on the issues of immigration than to pay privatized prisons to profit from the issues!

No one should profit from the incarceration of another human being. Private prisons are an anathema to a free society. They lead to immediate graft & corruption with incalculable harm to everyone they touch. 90% of the people presently in prison should be released, their civil rights restored, and those who imprisoned them imprisoned.

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz should be ashamed of herself. We do not need private corporations making money by separating patents from their children or deporting DREAMers who deserve a better future. As a Democrat she is disgusting!

    Dear Debbie,

I’ve been watching you since your late-night speeches in the House, along with Kendrick Smith and others. I admired what you were doing to ensure that the record represented all the voices it should.

But privatized prisons for anyone is just wrong. Rather, we should be looking for ways to close prisons by reducing outrageous sentences for non-white offenders, and emulating the successful methods used in Scandinavia. Millions of people incarcerated does not equal justice, or “fighting crime”. It is systematic marginalizing of a huge segment of our society.

I believe you have a great chance to become a strong advocate in our country. Please do the right thing now.
