Why is FL Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz siding with the Corrections Corporation of America and not her constituents in Southwest Ranches? 98% of her constituents DO NOT want a new for-profit immigrant detention center!

We call on Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-20) to WITHDRAW her current endorsements for CCA’s project.

The Obama Administration announced a change in the priorities for detentions and deportations, to focus on real national security concerns, not on separating parents from their children or deporting DREAMers who are only seeking a better future.

It is time for ICE to stop the immigrant money making machine and tell CCA to GO AWAY from Southwest Ranches.

    Yes let’s pay private corporations to imprison women and children and fathers and brothers for the crime of being afraid to apply for citizenship and therefore remaining in our homes working as maids and gardeners without the right papers… And let’s have bake sales and silent auctions to keep science and music and art in our elementary schools paid for by the parents because governemnt money would rather imprison people than educate them… After all, it’s a much cheaper labor force when they are slaves! And we try to stay faithful to Obama and the Democaratic party — but stupid decisions like this one makes it almost impossible. Heil Wassserman-Schultz… another fascist on the rise.

    The prison industry complex is not a good way to mete out justice. Prisons should be public facilities with high standards, and be used for locking up violent criminals and child molestors for the rest of their sorry lives with NO chance of parole!! The private industry is more likely to keep people locked up who are not violent criminals, such as those possessing a drug. Those people with a drug should be sent to a hospital for rehabilitation, rather than a jail. It’s cheaper, and saves the jail space for the REAL dangerous criminals!

    Undocumented residents are not a threat to our nation. In fact, they are helping our nation as they are examples of real, loving, caring families with values that our nation is sadly lacking these days. Do not spend time and money on deporting and / or detaining when that time and money is oh so very much needed elsewhere, for real threats to our nation, like poverty, hunger, and lack of education.
